SUSTAINABILITY & THE
ENVIRONMENT

As one of the UK’s leading suppliers of printed and wholesale paper bags, we recognise that our customers have an increasing awareness of the environmental concerns we all face. We accept that we have a responsibility to ensure that our products and services have a minimal impact on our surrounding environment and, as such, we endeavour to audit, account for and balance the effects our business activities have on our precious eco-systems.

We’re Certified & accredited

Why should we care?

The impact of our lifestyles on the environment is becoming increasingly obvious, our planets finite resources are under ever-increasing demand and in some cases, becoming critically scarce.

Only by ensuring that we take all necessary measures to reduce our environmental impact can we demonstrate that we genuinely do care.

Who do we work with?

Our first port of call was The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) in order to gain Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification for our paper based products.

We then focussed on achieving Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Certification for our Cotton, Canvas and Jute products.

Soil Association certification provides further weight to our eco-friendly credentials.

What did we have to do?

The first thing we had to do here at Paper Bag Co (and by association, our sister company Cotton Bag Co), was to ensure that we are using sustainable sources for as many of our products and raw materials as possible.

And in order to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable sourcing and supply chain accountability, we have gained industry standard certification from the most recognised auditing and certifying authorities.

Are We Carbon Neutral?

By working closely with The World Land Trust (WLT) we have audited our carbon footprint based upon all of our direct and indirect business activities, which has enabled us to calculate our carbon offset.

We balance this offset by donating relevant funds to The World Land Trust who in turn, invest in the protection of ecologically significant, bio-diverse eco-systems across the globe.

GOTS & Why it Matters

We are extremely proud to have gained our GOTS Certification, it aligns with our environmental and eco-policies, ensuring that we are at all times considering our impact upon the people and the world around us. By purchasing organic products you also show your customers your ethical support – and will act as proof – that the products you sell have a sustainable and environmentally friendly origin.
